Fall Season Overview

“I believe that for triton, the fall sports teams are going to be even better next year with age and maturity,” said Emily Johnson who plays field hockey.

The fall season was a huge success for most of the fall athletes with teams having big years.   Just about every team has improved from last year’s record with teams like Field Hockey making the tournament. Only the Girl’s Soccer team had the biggest regression for the precision season.

The Golf team went 18-0 and was lead by junior Cael Kohen who won Player of the Year , Player’s Open, and was the King Rat. With six returning players from the previous season coming back, the golf team was expecting to have a good season, but not to go undefeated.

“It was a happy surprise that we went undefeated this year with how strong the Cape Ann League was,” said Mr.  Richard Dube the Head Coach of the Golf team.

The other undefeated team was the Girl’s Cross country team, which was led by Kylie Lorenzo and Laney Towle and had many other runners returning from the previous season. They will be going to New York to run at Thanksgiving for their last meet, which is regionals.  There was also the Boy’s Cross Country (4-2) who only had two loses on the season being lead by Graham Stedfast and Aidan Gay-Killeen. Their season

The Field Hockey team went 11-5-3 and qualified for the state tournament while being lead by Gianna Conte who’s continuing her playing career at UMass Lowell and Jamie Bell who both got All Cal Honors this season. Kelly Sharky was also named Second team All Star for the  season. Sadly the girls lost a heartbreaking 2-0 lose to Pentuckent in the first round of the playoffs on our home field.

The Volleyball team went (6-14) on the year, which was an improvement from last year. That improvement came from having six returning starters from last season, which included seniors Paige Volpone, Katherine Quigley and junior Evelyn Pearson just to name a few. The top players on the team would have to go to Mia Berardino and Evelyn Pearsaon. With a strong young core the team is looking good for next year.

“ The team will definitely be better next year, with how strong the younger players are,” said Katherine Quigley.

The Boy’s Soccer team went (4-14), which showed an improvement from only one win the year before. The credit for that goes to Ben Smith who was the leading goal scorer on the team, Brendan Atherton who lead the team with assists, and MarkAthony Glickman who got All Cal Honors as the goalie. The success they had this year will definitely translate into next year as the strong young core of players like Will Smith, John Ditullio, Brendan Denis, Riley Gagnon, Joe Abt, Josh Monroe and Joe Delmonico.

The Football team is having a better season so far this year with going (1-10)with two games left in the season.  There has been a slight improvement from the football team this year with the most notable game being the 35-20 victory against Georgetown on the road. That game is also when Kyle Odoy went down with and injury. Yet Triton football is looking to have a bright future with a strong passing attack with Kyle Odoy under center and Chris Colby and Alden Lentz at receiver.

“Seeing a better team this year was refreshing as a senior with not wanting to go through the same struggle and pain that the seniors last year did,” said Charlie Takesian, starting senior Linebacker.

The only team that had regressed since last year was the Girl’s soccer team who went 3-11-4 on the year. Compared to last year where they missed the state tournament by one game. They did however have two second team All Star’s in goalkeeper Darcie McDonough, and striker Emily Colby who both had extremely good seasons. The girls are looking to bounce back next year as they will have a stronger and more mature team.

With the fall season wrapping up Triton students can say that this fall season was a success by adding two more Cal Titles to the gym walls and a lot of good players to build on for the next fall season. To all the seniors who have played their last games in a Triton uniform, it was a great four years and thank you for your commitment.
