When it comes to wanting to be in the military it use to be that if you have smoked
Marijuana in the past you could not apply to join. Now, the Army has decided to make changes
in allowing people to select “yes” in the box of “have smoked Marijuana. This is caused by, our
military is expand and the results in this is, that many people are coming back positive for
smoking Marijuana in the past.
There are other drugs, such as, Ecstacy and LSD to treat veterans and military
personnel. Along with civilians that may have depression or anxiety could also see some
benefits from drug use.
This article gives insight to not only the negative effects, but the positive effect that these
drugs have been tested and recorded.
LSD
LSD is a hallucinogen which means it’s a drug that causes hallucinations (experiencing
something that doesn’t exist in that present time). There are multiple problems that are caused
from seeing things that don’t exist.
LSD also has positive effects such as it is not an addictive drug which in terms doesn’t
lead to withdrawal symptoms, according to Medical Daily’s 2013 article, LSD could improve your
mental health: Researchers find lasting beneficial effects using psychedelics. Another study
tested in recorded by Krebs and Johansen in the same article found evidence that LSD has
helped people that have alcoholism. The people who took a small dose of LSD were less likely
to show a relapse from misusing the other drug (alcohol). Then, in a 2004 research project
submitted to The National Survey on Drug Use and Health in the same article, it showed a result
that people who used a lifetime use of LSD were less likely to be treated for mental health
issues.
Ecstasy
The “love drug” is mainly known in clubs and raves for their psychedelic coloring and
emblems on the drug. This drug is not only associated with the parties it’s known to be used at
but also the crimes, such as, sexual assault, rape, and even robbery. Now others studies have
shown a positive effect that this drug can have on people. CBS news did an article reporting of
how the drug Ecstasy (MDMA) is used for therapeutic uses and coping uses.
The study reported how for people such as war veterans who suffer from PTSD, it has
helped them with not showing any signs of PTSD. MDMA was used to assist in psychotherapy
