It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

One of the favorite Christmas traditions is being able to play that Christmas playlist that everyone has for this time of year.

“There’s nothing like a classic, old school Christmas song to get you into the spirit of Christmas like one of those songs that you listen to on repeat that will never get old,” says Sarah Gilbert.

“My favorite Christmas songs are Jingle Bells and Santa’s Coming to Town. I vibe to them, they gets me in the Christmas spirit every year, especially when I’m decorating the tree with my family” says Coleman Nicholson. Everyone has different tastes in music during the Christmas season, and Triton students share their favorites with us.

“Definitely Grandma got ran over by a Reindeer. I listen to it with my grandma every Christmas,” says Dylan Shute.

“I love Christmas is going to the dogs from The Grinch. It’s a good pick me up when I’m feeling down and makes me want to get up and dance. It reminds me of all the Christmas movies and definitely gets me in the spirit of the holiday seasons,” says Colleen McCarthy.

“I love to sing to All I want for Christmas, it’s been my favorite Christmas song for awhile now,” says Tommy Girard.

The classic Christmas songs are traditions for everyone to listen to during the seasons but try listening to these songs to mix up your Christmas playlist:

Little Drummer Boy by Pentatonix is an acapella remix to Little Drummer Boy by Katherine Kennicott Davis. Personally we like more upbeat Christmas songs but for this being a slower song,  it’s well composed and sounds great as an acapella cover.

Santa Claus is coming to Town by Bruce Springsteen is a cover to the original Santa Claus is coming to Town by Haven Gillespie. It has a kind of modern rock sound to it and is slower than the original but still gets us into the Christmas spirit. The version of this song by Mariah Carey is more upbeat and fun for the season so depending on what style of music you like better this song would be a great addition to your Christmas playlist.

Oh Holy Night by Hometown is another cover to the original song Oh Holy Night by Josh Groban. This band gives us a kind of One Direction feel and really does this heartfelt Christmas song justice. Hometown did an acoustic version of this song and we feel it sounds a lot better than the original. The song gives us a warm Christmas feeling and will definitely give it to you too, so add it to your playlist!
