West Row

Jodie Soufan of Newburyport was one of West Row’s first customers, and she reviewed it as,

“Amazing. I’ve been looking forward to the opening of this quaint restaurant nestled in a perfect spot in the center of downtown Newburyport since I heard it was going in and it didn’t disappoint!”

West Row opened a few weeks ago and opening day was a success. It is located in delightful Downtown Newburyport in the Market Square. It is right near the waterfront and the Firehouse Center for the Arts.  The restaurant is where the former frozen yogurt store, Orange Leaf, was. David Pierre is the current owner of West Row and previous owner to other vendors located there.

The dining style is casual elegant. It is the perfect place to go for anniversaries, business meals, birthdays, or happy hour. It is known so far as “cozy” and comprises “a great atmosphere”. However, during the evening time, a customer claimed they had some problems.

“It was noisy and I was barely able to hear my dining partner. It is like a sports bar during a Patriot’s game,” said Ethan Tobin.

Jodie Soufan thinks very highly of West Row so far.

“The atmosphere was great and the food was outstanding. The restaurant is designed so every space has a view of the beautiful Market Square; I imagine now that once the holiday season arrives and the town tree is lit up, it will be like eating in a winter wonderland. A true gem,” said Soufan.

West Row is American Bistro style. Their appetizers range from lobster dip to pulled pork BBQ sliders. They have a salad, sandwich, and burger menu accompanied with a raw bar menu. Byfield’s Carol Krimnoff was also pleased with the food.

“I had the fish tacos, and my husband got the salad with shrimp and we both thought both dishes were good. The server recommended the shrimp pasta dish, which was well received,” said Krimnoff.

“The menu options looked so good that we ordered a handful of things and shared them. The Tuna Tartare was fantastic as were the tacos and the duck confit salad. My one regret: we were so satisfied after the appetizers and entrees that we couldn’t think about dessert – I now wish I had at least checked out the dessert options for future reference,” said Soufan.
