Hiking in the mountains,  42 year-old Jamie Jacobus, a new physical education teacher at

Triton Middle School enjoys spending time with his kids doing the thing he loves most, being active.

Jacobus, who goes by the name Coby, lives in Rye, New Hampshire, with his wife and two children. Outside of teaching middle school gym, he describes himself as super active. He referees ice hockey at the high school level as well as the college level, but stopped doing the college level recently due to too much traveling. He’s done several activities such as backcountry skiing and rock climbing. On top of that, he works part time for a guide service where he takes clients out ice climbing as well as rock climbing. With his two kids, aged four and six, he enjoys going hiking in the mountains with them as well as traveling all over the world with them. From Utah to South America to Ecuador, Jacobus has been to many places. When it comes to his favorite place, Jacobus couldn’t decide on just one.

“I’ve (done) a lot man.” Jacobus said. “I’ve been to Chambery, France, in the winter and spring”.

In Chambery, France, Jacobus enjoys backcountry skiing. He has also done a trail run called the Tour to Mount Blanc in Chambery, France. Although it was a race, Jacobus said he just ran the track instead of actually competing. The track course consisted of 135 miles and was completed over 3 days.

“I’ve done another trip to Utah and again, right, I’m like super active”.

“Energetic” Jacobus said as one word to describe himself.  He is constantly active, whether that is helping clients in his guide service, going on hikes with his family, or teaching middle school physical education classes. He wants to inspire kids that being physically fit is a great accomplishment. With that, he tries to bring consistent energy with him wherever he goes and hopes for kids to feed off his energy. He wants to be a role model that inspires the younger generation to stay physically active and fit.
